Plane Racing

After missing out all last year, the boys and I were finally able to go to one of Grandpa Wald's plane races this summer.  Out on the sod farms in Eagle Mountain they hold plane races once a month for gas and electric model airplanes.  It was a great day - not too hot in the shade tents - and there were three spectacular mid-air crashes.  (Those are always the most fun - unless it's your own plane.)  The boys favorite part is when the race is over and they can bring back Grandpa's plane for him.  It's very important work!  Sometimes you even have to wrap your hand in a paper towel so you don't get gasoline all over yourself.  :)  We all had a great time!

Day Seven

If it's our last day in California, it's gotta be a day at the beach!

Day Six

Downtown San Francisco - so much to do and only one day to see it all! We made it around Chinatown, Pier 39, the Aquarium at the Bay, Ghirardelli Square, the Hard Rock Cafe, and a few rides on the trolleys. My favorite parts were watching the boys go crazy petting the sharks and starfish, Michael surprising all of the Chinese shop owners by asking them questions in Cantonese, riding the trolley by hanging on the edge poles, letting the boys have turns with the camera (some of the pictures turned out pretty good!), and the view of the city at night. Everything was great!

Day Five

Time for the beach again! We went down to the Santa Cruz area to find a beach we could swim in. It took a while to find one without too much wind (or crazy people) but we finally did and got right to the swimming. It was nice and relaxing, nobody got sunburned, and the boys succeeded in getting sand in every possible crevice. Mission accomplished.

Day Four

Grandma Wald, Grandpa Wald, and Uncle Matt have now joined us in California and together we all went to the Exploratorium in San Francisco and then Muir Woods on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Exploratorium was amazing and the boys had a blast playing with everything. It's a great place for kids of all ages! Driving across the bridge was fun too - it looked really cool with the fog rolling through it. Muir Woods was calm and peaceful - especially after all the excitement of the Exploratorium. We saw a lot more wildlife this time too - slugs, caterpillers, blue birds, squirrels, and deer. It was a very good and very long day.

Day Three

Today we went grocery shopping for the week and then it was down to Half Moon Bay. The water was freezing and it was pretty windy, but of course that didn't stop the boys from getting absolutely soaked! I think it could be snowing and Johnny would still want to wade in the water.

Day Two

The boys spent part of the morning searching for the rat in David and Erin's backyard - from a safe distance. They never did see it, but we did have a nice time at church and then playing games with them in the evening.

Day One in California

Flying out to California is always fun with boys! :) When we took off Damien shouted out, "I'm FLYING!!" I hope he stays as excited for the rest of our vacation.
