Love/Hate

Charlie has a love-hate relationship with his spoon.  On the one hand, he loves that it brings food to his mouth.  He loves how easy it is to hold.  He loves to bite down on that oh-so-chewy tip.  He loves to bite down on the oh-so-chewy handle.  He loves to twirl it in the air.  On the other hand, the spoon is forever making him gag.

Now I've tried to patiently explain that if you hold the spoon farther down only a little bit will go into the mouth, thus avoiding the gag reflex.  He did what any good child does - ignore his mother.

Dinnertime usually goes a little something like this:

Take a bite of food.
Refuse to let go of the spoon that is lodged between the teeth.
Grab the spoon.
Hold the spoon in the air while admiring it.
Put the spoon in the mouth.
Gag.
Put the spoon in the mouth again.
Gag.
Throw the spoon on the tray.
Glare at the spoon.
Grab the spoon and shove it into the mouth.
Gag.
Shove it in harder.
Gag harder.
Throw the spoon on the floor.
Mom picks up the spoon and cleans it off.
Eye the spoon for a minute.
Seize the spoon, twirl the spoon, eat the spoon.
Gag.
Glare at the spoon.
Shout at the spoon.
Talk to the spoon.
Eat the spoon.
Gag.
Throw the spoon on the tray again.
Don't look at the spoon.

Kissing

The boys have been going to the Scera summer movies this year and are having a blast with it.  After one movie I asked Damien, "So, how was it?"

"It was GREAT!  Except for the end.  There was kissing."

"GASP!  What did you do?  Did you cover your eyes?"

"Sort-of."

"What does that mean?"

"First I did this..."

"And then I did this..."

Cooler than me

Charlie's new obsession... sunglasses.  He loves them.
He loves for us to put them on.
He loves to sit and grin while wearing them.
He loves to yank them off again.
He loves to try putting them on himself by attempting to reach his eyes via the back of his head.

He is most definitely "Cooler Than Me".

Day... new

It's a new day.  It's a new blog.

Okay, it's not a new blog, but it feels new - getting back into this after almost a year of abandonment.  I'm not gonna lie - it was hard balancing life and work and a new baby.  I gave up blogging, scrapbooking, cooking (it was tragic. no really.), dates with Michael, lower-numbered jeans, soaks in the tub, time to organize (I really do love it), most of the books I wanted to read, sleep... and many more good things.  But I got to be Mom to someone better.  Someone awesome.

This guy.

Being a mom?  Best job ever.  Simple as that.
